'DUX FEMINA FACTI'

July/August 2005

The Raduga-Newsletter will inform all our website visitors about our activities and about the news we can find in Europe about women in music. The Newsletter will be revised every two months.

New in our Register:
This time we enlarged our register with a large number of names of women trobairitz/trouvères and women composers. Also the list with operas has grown with almost 100 titles. We found all this new information in recently acquired german literature (See: Sources). This means that we have listed now - per continent and country - the names of almost 4.000 women composers and - in alphabetical order of the composers' names - the titles of approximately 750 operas. The number of active women conductors counts almost 200 names.

Next time we will try to update the data of all organizations in the field of women and music.

Attention:
Magazine 'Das Orchester' issue May 2005.This is a special on women conductors and the position of women musicians in conservatoria and orchstras in Germany

Planned activities
For the next season 2005-2006 we have plans to realize only one Tribute-project ' A Tribute to Viteszlava Kapralová' and one opera 'A Christmas Carol', by Thea Musgrave. We are working on the opera in co-operation with Opera Minora in Amsterdam. At the moment we are trying hard to find all the funds necessarely for both projects. Our plans are to perform the Tribute-concert in Prague and Brno in the Czech Republic and in Amsterdam. The opera will be performed in Amsterdam.
Thea Musgrave will be invited for this performance.
